Bio

Robyn Symon debuted in the indie film arena in 2007 producing, directing and editing the feature documentary Transformation: The Life & Legacy of Werner Erhard about the founder of one of the most controversial cultural figures of all time. At its New York premiere, the film was acquired by Screen Media Films/Universal and Ocule Films for foreign sales.

A two-time Emmy winning Writer/Producer/Director/Editor, Symon began her career as a television news reporter before joining PBS in Miami in 1991 producing documentaries, public affairs programs and the TV series Florida!, which also ran for six seasons on The Travel Channel. For PBS, Symon wrote and produced the highly acclaimed pledge special, Boleros: Unforgettable Love Song featuring Latin musical stars and the docu-series Voices of Vision, with NPR’s Scott Simon about non-profit organizations worldwide.

Symon’s other documentary film credits include: Hedy&Yumi: Crossing the Bridge (Best Doc at Le Femme Film Fest), about a holocaust couple turned relationship experts, YES: Young Entrepreneurs’ Society revealing young millionaires’ secrets of success. In 2013 Symon produced and directed Behind the Blue Veil, hailed by the New York Times and Hollywood Reporter as a ‘deadly serious’ and ‘powerful film’ about the ancient Tuareg known as the blue people of the Sahara caught in the middle of the War on Terror in North Africa. In addition to two Suncoast Emmys, Symon has been honored with numerous national awards for writing and producing including 3 Telly awards; 2 NABJ awards and honors by both the Associated Press and UPI.
