Bio

Paul Yoo is a Los Angeles-based producer/actor developing two documentaries. One explores an unconventional geologic expedition in a remote area of the Tibetan himalaya. The other examines the intersection of music and social movement in the maldives, a vacation destination for some, but for locals a land of human rights atrocities committed by the now-deposed Gayoom regime. In 2006 Yoo partnered with filmmakers from National Geographic and launched the production company Still Life Projects. They recently wrapped a documentary profiling global, grassroots HIV/ AIDS initiatives funded by the US Agency for International Development. Throughout Tanzania, Rwanda, and Haiti, Yoo field produced Saving Lives, Creating Hope, launching a landmark public-private partnership between the State Department and Warner brothers. Other works include an hour-long National Geographic TV special, INSIDE – LA Gangs, and narrative shorts Two Julias and The Helmet. Yoo earned his BA in Public Policy from Brown University, an MA in International Conflict Negotiation from the Maxwell School, and his certificate in Documentary Filmmaking from Seattle Film Institute.
