Liz Leifer

  • Program Year:Producing Lab 2003

Bio

Elizabeth Leifer began her formal education at UC Berkeley, studying English literature and minoring in art history. She worked in her family business for the next few years, handling the buying and selling of houses and managing budgets of over $250,000 successfully. During this time, her fine art paintings began to find an audience as her work was displayed in galleries and coffeehouses in various parts of California. Once her career as a fine art painter began to take off, she relocated to Los Angeles to live in a downtown artist community. There her work was embraced and bought by collectors and artists alike. During this time, Liz worked on several student films and experimental art films, both as an actress and as a camera operator. Soon, her painting skills were being used for sets and backdrops, eventually leading Liz to lucrative scenic positions on blockbuster films such as Armageddon, Independence Day and K2. Intrigued by the filmmaking process, Liz accepted a job as a script supervisor on a short film. This led her to another script supervising position as well as an Associate Producer credit on the independent feature Shelf Life (upcoming – 2004). After that, she worked as a Line Producer on an independent feature entitled Your Name Here, also due out in 2004.
