Bio
Lauren Marsden is a queer Trinidadian-Canadian filmmaker and media artist of European descent based in Vancouver, BC, the unceded territory of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), səlil̓ilw̓ətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. Her storytelling focuses on narrative and experimental works that explore gender, creole identity, and the human impact on the land. With 17 years of experience as an artist under her belt, her work has been presented by Pacific Cinematheque, the Trinidad + Tobago Film Festival, New Media Gallery, Cineworks, SFMOMA, and others. She has recently received grants and awards from the BC Arts Council, the Canada Council for the Arts, and WIFTV Vancouver.
