Bio

Kathryn Bostic has written music for numerous film, TV and theater productions.
She is a recipient of the Sundance Fellowship for Filmscoring and a Film
Independent Project Involve Honoree. Her music was in the Sundance Film
Festival 2012 as the composer for the critically acclaimed movie Middle of
Nowhere for which award winning director-writer Ava DuVernay won “Best
Director for Dramatic Feature.” She created the score for Ava’s previous film I
Will Follow, which film critic Roger Ebert gave a glowing review, creating the
buzz for a successful theatrical release. Bostic has also collaborated with award
winning filmmaker Stanley Nelson for American Experience and PBS
Independent Lens productions. Her music was featured on Broadway where she
received a Drama Desk nomination for “Outstanding Music in a Play” in the hit
production Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo starring Robin Williams. Her score
and ambient textures garnered a win in the sound design category and a Tony
nomination. Bostic also collaborated with award winning playwright August
Wilson writing the music for productions of his last play ‘Radio Golf’ and the
Broadway production Gem of the Ocean. She is an accomplished singer-
songwriter and has toured and/or recorded with a variety of artists including K.D.
Lang, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Nas, and David Byrne. She recently produced her own
