Bio
Jesus Celaya is a Mexican-American film & TV writer/director. His project Chalino was selected for the 2020 Sundance Screenwriters & Director’s Lab where he was the recipient of the Sundance Institute Latinx Fellowship. In 2022, Celaya was selected for Film Independent’s Project Involve as that year’s only writer/director Fellow, earning the Sony Pictures Entertainment Fellowship. Most recently, Celaya has become the first-ever grand prize winner for the McDonald’s Spotlight Dorado competition with his short film Lucha Noir. Growing up between Sonora, Mexico and Washington State, Jesus’ storytelling combines his love of folklore, history, and genre with his passion for cinema.
