Talent Guide

Jen Heck

  • Discipline:Director, Producer
  • Program Year:Documentary Lab 2014

Bio

Jen Heck completed her BFA at NYU, and her MFA at Columbia University’s film program in 2009. She’s had award-winning work at major film festivals (Sundance, The Hamptons, and Palm Springs), at museums (The Whitney: Biennial 2004, and MoMA), and on networks including MTV, HGTV, Bravo, and VH1. While working as a documentary filmmaker, Heck has climbed mountains, been chased by foreign police, hidden from terrorists, raised money for cancer, trekked to the highest and the lowest points on Earth, been lost in the desert, and raised a hand for peace. She hopes to one day channel her real-life experiences into narrative films about women doing even more dramatic things in even more extreme places, and, by telling these stories, to make the world a better place.
