Bio

At the 2002 IFP Los Angeles Film Festival, Jason Buchtel premiered Showboy, a film he produced and co-wrote with directors Christian Taylor and Lindy Heyman. Showboy was a crowd favorite, screening to sold-out audiences at both the Los Angeles Film festival and Outfest, and has been slated to screen at numerous festivals worldwide.

Prior to Showboy, Jason ran Pollywog Pictures, a Los Angeles based production company co-founded with actor/director Andy Dick. While at Pollywog, Jason developed The Andy Dick Show for MTV.

Jason first established himself in New Orleans, where he maintained the production company Verge Entertainment. Via Verge, he published Tribe magazine, featuring the lifestyles of the self-coined South Coast. While at Tribe, Jason met and teamed up with his mentor, the late Brandon Tartikoff. Together, they produced Tribe TV.

Currently, Jason is the Head of Entertainment at Squeak Pictures, the Los Angeles-based commercial/music video production company. There he continues his guerilla approach to getting projects made. Currently, he is producing an improv-based DV feature for Andy Dick, as well as Confessions of a 32 Year Old Boy Scout, a film he co-wrote with director Darren Stein.
