Bio

Jasmine McGlade Chazelle wrote and directed the feature film Maria My Love, starring Independent Spirit Award nominee Judy Marte (Raising Victor Vargas) and Golden Globe winner and Academy Award nominee Karen Black (Five Easy Pieces). The film premiered in competition for the New Narrative Director award at the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival and won Best U.S. Feature at HBO’s New York International Latino Film Festival among other awards including Stand Out Film at Hells Half Mile. Jasmine grew up in Pennsylvania, Colorado and England. She graduated Harvard University in 2007. While at college, Jasmine produced the critically acclaimed feature-length musical Guy and Madeline on a Park Bench, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2009, won the Special Jury Prize at the Torino Film Festival, was nominated for a Gotham Award, and was released in theaters the next year to rave reviews. It was named one of the ten best films of the year by The Village Voice, Film Comment, Time Out New York and The Boston Phoenix, and one of the thirty best films of the year by The New York Times and The Boston Globe. Up next for Jasmine is a feature she wrote and will direct called Storm Cloud Blue, about a troubled painter and the events that occur over the course of twenty-four hours when her son and his uninhibited girlfriend come to visit her in her rural Martha’s Vineyard home. Jasmine lives in Venice with her husband Damien Chazelle. She is represented by Frank Wuliger and Sandra Lucchesi of The Gersh Agency, and Gary Ungar of Exile Entertainment.
