Bio
Hossein Keshavarz’s debut feature, Dog Sweat, was released to critical acclaim in 2011.
The New York Times wrote that it was polished, the young actors warmly believable and NPR
said it is astonishingly gutsy. Keshavarz won The Special Award Promoting Social Values
awarded by the President of the Italian Republic at the Rome Film Festival and Jury Awards at
the Austin, Nashville and Little Rock Film Festivals. The film was distributed theatrically in select
cities by Indiepix. In 2011, he was nominated for the Someone to Watch Film Independent Spirit
Award. Other achievements include being selected for the Tribeca All Access program in 2011
and Nantucket Screenwriter’s Colony in 2011. Keshavarz has served as a jury member for the
Mar Del Plata Film Festival in 2010 and for the Film Independent Spirit Awards in 2012. He also
served as the Associate Producer on the 2011 Sundance Audience Award Winner, Circumstance.
He has an MFA in Filmmaking from Columbia University and a BA in History from Northwestern.
