Bio

Originally from Argentina, Esteban Arguello is a filmmaker and editor. His films include Jiaolian [Coach] (2014), Todavia Trabajando (2013, winner of best documentary short at AUFF), The Girl with the Tuba (2012), The Precision of Paul (2011), and Margaret’s Son, (2008). He has edited a variety of socially conscious documentaries including Paraiso for Sale, which debuted at LAFF 2011 and Amazon Gold for the Cancun Climate Summit. For the past two seasons he’s been an editor for VH1’s scripted comedy Single Ladies. Other credits include the Peabody Award winning film Bhutto (2011), Troubadours (2011), and the Mun2 Hookup (2009). In 2009, he was awarded Film Independent’s Project Involve Fellowship. He is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts. He currently splits his time between Beijing and Los Angeles.

Logline

Jiaolian is the story of 27 year-old Norman DeSilva, an American who overnight becomes the head coach for the Foshan Longlions, a unique basketball team comprised of Americans, Syrian and Chinese players. Together, DeSilva rallies his team to overcome their challenges in order to win a spot in the Chinese Basketball Association playoffs.
