Bio

Eric Bruggemann came to producing by way of editing. Having edited projects for some of the most respected names in documentary filmmaking, including Alex Gibney, Brett Morgen, and Joe Berlinger, he produced a series of short films with long-time collaborator Marah Strauch that led to their current documentary feature, Gravity. Bruggemann was editor for the first two seasons of Sundance Channel’s Iconoclasts directed by Joe Berlinger, and has edited four projects for Alex Gibney: NRDC: Laws of Nature; additional editing for the 2008 Oscar- winning documentary feature Taxi to the Dark Side; Behind Those Eyes, a feature documentary about 3 Doors Down; and Away from the Sun, a 3 Doors Down concert film. He was editor for director Dominic DeJoseph on Video Free Europe, a feature documentary about R.E.M.; 3 Nights Live, a feature doc about Ryan Adams; and the short comedy/documentary Johnny Berlin, which aired on the Documentary Channel.

Bruggemann’s feature work includes Woodpecker, which premiered at SXSW in 2008 and was released by Carnivalesque Films. Alex Karpovsky, the film’s director, was selected for Filmmaker magazine’s annual “25 New Faces of Independent Film”. A musician himself, he has edited music videos for R.E.M., Herbie Hancock, Pink, Seal, Rufus Wainwright, Gladys Knight, Ryan Adams, Tilly and the Wall, and most recently, We Are The World 25 for Haiti for Oscar-winning director Paul Haggis.

Bruggemann graduated with a degree in film from Occidental College, studying under acclaimed experimental filmmaker Chick Strand.
