Bio

Courtney Hunt earned her MFA at Columbia University where she studied writing and directing. Her thesis, Althea Faught, a 20-minute short about the Civil War, was purchased by and aired on PBS. Frozen River, Hunt’s second short, was completed in 2004 and premiered in the New York Film Festival. It also screened in the Los Angeles, Williamstown, Nashville and American Indian Film Festivals. Frozen River, her feature script, inspired by the short, was a finalist for best screenplay at IFP New York in 2005.

Hunt is an alumna of the 2005 Los Angeles Film Festival with Frozen River.

Logline

Strapped for money, trailer-mom Ray reluctantly teams up with Lila, a widowed Mohawk Indian, to smuggle illegal immigrants across the frozen St. Lawrence River from Canada to the U.S. in the trunk of a Plymouth Acclaim. Both women swear each trip will be their last, but one final job leads to a showdown with the law on all sides.
