Bio

Colin Campbell has written and/or directed numerous award-winning short films, including Seraglio, winner of Deauville’s Grand Prix and nominated for an Academy Award, and The Speeding Ticket, winner of Worldfest Houston’s Best Comedy. He has won numerous writing and directing awards for his work at Instant Films, including Best Film for Tube, written by James Gunn.

Colin also wrote and directed the play Golden Prospects: A Los Angeles Melodrama. The L.A. production was nominated for five LA Weekly Awards, including Best Production of the Year. BackStage West called it an “uproarious comedy.” LA Weekly described it as “a terrific, ebulliently performed exercise in style.” TimeOut New York called its Off-Off Broadway debut a “hilarious deadpan homage… a delightful discovery.” The script was awarded the Maxwell and Janet Salter Prize by the Beverly Hills Theatre Guild. It is currently running at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Colin has been a Resident Artist at Harvard’s Institute for the Arts and Civic Dialogue, and at CalState’s Summer Arts Program. He has taught acting at New York Film Academy, playwriting at Young Playwrights Inc, and theater to incarcerated youth in LA.

Colin has directed for the Mark Taper Theater’s New Works Festival, A.S.K. Theater Project, Cornerstone Theater, the Actors’ Gang, and Lincoln Center Director’s Lab among many others.

He has an MFA in theater directing from Columbia University and a BA from the University of Pennsylvania.
