Bio

Cassidy Friedman established himself as a storyteller first as an award-winning news reporter for over 10 years (Idaho Governor’s Award for Excellence in Journalism, 2009; 1st Place, Daily Newspaper Series, Idaho Press Club, 2007; 1st Place, Serious Features Report, Idaho Press Club, 2006), before transitioning to directing and producing documentaries as a way to engage more creatively with each story.

Friedman’s work has been featured on CNN, Yahoo!, The Huffington Post, NBC Bay Area, sfgate.com, Bay Citizen, CBS 5 Eye on Blogs, SF Appeal, The San Jose Mercury News, and The Santa Cruz Sentinel. He has directed several documentary shorts, including Unstill Life, Official Selection of the 2014 Long Island International Film Expo and The SoCal Creative & Innovative Film Festival. Current projects include four feature-length documentaries: Soledad, Shallow Waters: The Public Death Of Raymond Zack, Restorative Justice in Oakland Schools, and Our Little Roses, which follows the only orphanage for girls in Honduras.
