Ana M. Amortegui was born in Medellin, Colombia. She obtained a degree in Electrical Engineering, but became sidetracked as she worked as a dance instructor on television programs in Colombia. She discovered cinematography during her days on sets by forming bonds with the cinematographers and gaffers. She eventually relocated to Miami, Florida, where she embarked upon her passion for cameras and film.
