Logline

When Amare’s father catches him in the act with another boy, Amare is kicked out of the house and finds himself trying to survive in the cold unforgiving streets of New York, while still struggling to make his dreams of dancing with the renowned Alvin Ailey dance troupe a reality.

Synopsis

Amare Jordan is an aspiring dancer who finds himself out on the streets after his father walks in on him sleeping with another boy. Now on his own, he must navigate the harsh realities of being on his own and fending for himself, all the while trying to make his dreams of becoming a professional dancer come to life.

Scared, alone and unsure until he meets Dennis Knight, an assumingly kind and generous man who eventually takes him down a rabbit hole of drugs, sex and lies. With no one to turn to and no one to protect him, Amare finds himself questioning if the pursuit of his dreams is worth the trouble it has brought on. Questioning his sexuality, his self-worth and his actions; forced to grow up rather quickly as he finds himself struggling with his dreams in one hand and his own survival in the other.

Amare, will quickly learn the hard choices life all too often puts in front of us. Coming to terms with his sexuality, willing to do whatever it takes to make his dreams come true and reconciling the relationship with the only family he has left in his dad, will challenge Amare in ways he’s never imagined. At such a young age, figuring out life can come with so many complications.
