Tech Talk: Independent Filmmaking and AI

With the rapid development of AI technology, many questions have emerged regarding the implications for creative individuals and industries. What shape will this new paradigm take? Are there ethical best practices? What are unique use cases? How can we protect creative careers and property? On a quarterly basis, we’ll sit down with experts to engage in a series of conversations around these questions and more.

For our first Tech Talk session, we welcome filmmaker Eugen Braeunig (Sally, Captive Audience, Welcome to Chechnya).

Emmy-nominated filmmaker and archival producer Eugen Braeunig has deeply engaged with the evolving intersection of AI and documentary through his production work, and as a founding member of the Archival Producers Alliance. In this conversation, we will explore the concept of truth in filmmaking, examples of recent AI projects, and be presented with best practices and a toolkit created for filmmakers by the APA.
