Global Media Makers Conversation: Amr Salama

Join us for a special Global Media Makers conversation with Egyptian filmmaker and Global Media Makers Fellow Amr Salama, who will chat with LA Times journalist and television critic Lorraine Ali about his new Netflix show, Paranormal.

Amr attended the Global Media Makers LA Residency in 2016 with his project Sheikh Jackson, which went on to have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. The film, his fourth feature, was also Egypt’s entry in the Foreign Language Film category at the 2017 Academy Awards. His new show, Paranormal, is a period piece set in Egypt, about a doctor who faces a series of supernatural events. The show, which is based on the best-selling Egyptian novels by Ahmed Khaled Tawfik, has made history as Netflix’s first original series from Egypt.
