Fi Nonfiction Works in Progress: What Will I Become?

You’re invited to join us for a work-in-progess screening of What Will I Become?, followed by a conversation and feedback session with co-director Lexie Bean and composer Perigee Vitz-Wong, moderated by Daniel Cardone (Nonfiction Programs Senior Manager, Film Independent).

Beverages will be served prior to the screening, starting at 6:30 pm PT.

The Film Independent Nonfiction Works-in-Progress Series offers documentary filmmakers a place to share their projects to receive constructive feedback.

Audiences have the opportunity to watch films as they enter the final stages of editing, offering feedback via in-depth surveys and moderated discussions, helping to ready projects for festivals and distribution.

Attendees will be asked to participate in the conversation following the film and fill out an anonymous questionnaire.

Homecoming King Blake Brockington and soft-spoken Kyler Prescott were poets, musicians and community advocates. The film traces their joys and challenges, their tragic deaths and resulting media attention, and the larger aftermath within their communities. What Will I Become? asks why the transmasculine+ community is particularly vulnerable to living and dying quietly.

Rough cut | Graphics and animation in progress; no color correction or sound mix | 90 minutes, color | Directed by Lexie Bean and Logan Rozos | Produced by Drew Dickler, David Sherwin, Geoff Pingree
