Festival Visions, now in its second year, is a series that shines a light on films discovered this year in regional film festivals across the US. We’re excited to present these exceptional titles that are currently without distribution and deserve to be seen by a wider audience.
You’re invited to join us for an online screening of AIKĀNE, followed by a pre-recorded conversation with director Dean Hamer, moderated by Anderson Le (Artistic Director, Hawaii International Film Festival).
AIKĀNE was selected for Festival Visions in partnership with the Hawaii International Film Festival and will screen alongside Without Arrows. (Remember, no need to register for both of these titles – as long as you register for one film, you’ll be able to see both.)
A valiant island warrior, wounded in battle against foreign invaders, falls into a mysterious underwater world. Everything changes when the octopus who rescues him transforms into a handsome young man.
2024, 14 minutes, color | Directed by Daniel Sousa, Dean Hamer, Joe Wilson | Sound and Music by Dan Golden | Produced by Hinaleimoana Wong-Kalu | Executive Produced by Judith Light, Daniel Karslake
