We proudly invite you to join us for the Film Independent Presents: Disability Inclusion Showcase premiering the 2020 Media Access Awards presented by Easterseals.

The Showcase highlights the work of this year’s Media Access Awards honorees and those promoting representation of the disabled community, and features screenings and conversations celebrating honored talent: Ramy Youssef (Ramy), Danny J. Gomez (New Amsterdam) and Lauren Ridloff (The Walking Dead).
 

The Showcase is kicked off by the 2020 Media Access Awards presented by Easterseals, which can be streamed live at mediaaccessawards2020.com on Thursday, November 19 at 6:00 pm PT / 9:00 pm ET. The event, a celebration of the accurate portrayal and employment of people with disabilities in all media, will be hosted by Nyle DiMarco and pay tribute to individuals, series and films that have redefined on-screen representation for the disability community. Featuring special appearances from Selma Blair, Whoopi Goldberg, Joshua Jackson, Jimmy Kimmel, Jane Lynch, Howie Mandel, Andy Samberg and Gabourey Sidibe.

November 20–23, the Disability Inclusion Showcase will be available to watch in the Film Independent Presents Online Screening Room. The Showcase features two screenings and three pre-recorded Q&As, all moderated by writer David Radcliff (The Rookie):

• Ramy – Season 1, Episode 8 (“Saving Mikaela”), followed by a pre-recorded conversation with series creator/executive producer/writer/director and Media Access Awards Writers Guild of America West Evan Somers Memorial Award recipient Ramy Youssef, and actor Steve Way
• The Walking Dead – Season 9, Episode 13 (“Chokepoint”), followed by a pre-recorded conversation with Media Access Awards SAG-AFTRA Harold Russell Award recipient, actor Lauren Ridloff
• A pre-recorded conversation with Media Access Awards Christopher Reeve Acting Scholarship recipient, actor Danny J. Gomez (New Amsterdam)

Both the Media Access Awards and the Disability Inclusion Showcase will include closed captioning.
 

Registration Information

Film Independent Members and the general public can register for this online screening starting at 10:00 am on Tuesday, November 17. | Registration is free; limit one registration per individual.

How to Watch the Showcase

On the first day of screening availability, registrants will be emailed a secure link by our partner Vision Media to watch this title in the Film Independent Presents Online Screening Room.

Online Screening Policies

Availability window and registration capacity may vary; always register as early as possible to ensure access. Links are watermarked, nontransferable and may only be used by the guest who completed the registration. Limit one link per registration, per event.
