Always Remember: 263 Nights

Always Remember is a six-month series of free, virtual screenings designed to raise Holocaust awareness through cinema. Each month from June through November, we’ll offer a selection of films designed to amplify unique voices and experiences relating to the Holocaust, highlighting LGBTQ+ stories, women’s perspectives, stories of resistance, youth experiences and more.

You’re invited to join us for an online screening of 263 Nights, followed by a pre-recorded conversation with producer Vladimir Bokun.

263 Nights is the actual story of the 26 prisoners of the Minsk ghetto who voluntarily confined themselves in the basement, short on food and water – and waited for the Red Army to arrive. They spent 263 terrible days and nights there. The youngest son of the stove maker Pinchus Dobin, who built that heaven-sent and hell-bent basement, is still alive.

263 Nights played in the Miami Jewish Film Festival, Moscow Jewish Film Festival and Ann Arbor Jewish Film Festival.

2021, 27 minutes, color, Russian with English subtitles | Directed by Vladimir Lutsky (documentary) and Irina Tarasova (animation) | Written by Boris Gersten | Produced by Vladimir Bokun
