Bio

April Maxey is a writer/director from San Antonio, Texas, based in Los Angeles. Her AFI DWW+ short film, Work, played at Sundance and Tribeca, won the Grand Jury Prize at Outfest, and was distributed by OTV. Her feature screenplay Work was selected for the WIF x Sundance Financing Intensive, the NALIP Feature Media Accelerator, and is a current One House x Sundance grantee. April is an alumna of Berlinale Talents, the Sundance Uprise Fellowship, and the Adobe x Sundance Women to Watch Fellowship. April is passionate about stories that center underrepresented perspectives and explore queer intimacy, grief, and healing.
