Fi WIPS: Baby Doe

You’re invited to join us for a work-in-progess screening of Baby Doe, followed by a conversation and feedback session with director/producer Jessica Earnshaw and producer Holly Meehl Chapman, moderated by Alana Waksman (Nonfiction Programs Coordinator, Film Independent).

Beverages will be served prior to the screening, starting at 6:30 pm PT.

The Film Independent Works-in-Progress Series (aka Fi WIPS) offers nonfiction filmmakers a place to share stories that are still being developed in a safe and supportive environment, and receive constructive feedback that will get their projects ready for festivals and distribution.

Fi WIPS provides members of the film community and the public advance access to these documentaries, including the opportunity to participate in in-depth conversations with filmmakers. Attendees will be asked to participate in the conversation following the film and fill out an anonymous questionnaire.

As a young woman in a conservative Christian community, Gail gave birth alone and left her newborn in the woods. Decades later, she’s arrested for murder, despite her claim that the baby was stillborn. As her trial approaches, Gail must confront her denial and shame to reconcile with her past.

Rough cut | No color correction or sound mix | 95 minutes, color | Directed and Produced by Jessica Earnshaw, Produced by Holly Meehl Chapman
