Bio

Aslihan Unaldi is a writer, director and producer based in Brooklyn and Istanbul.

Her award winning short film “Razan” premiered at the Rotterdam Film Festival in 2006 and went on to screen at dozens of festivals worldwide. In 2007 Unaldi won a Sloan Foundation writing grant for her first feature script The Hysterical Case of Florence B. Her second script Gated was selected for the Berlinale Script Station and Thessaloniki Crossroads Co-production Forum in 2010. She also worked as a writer on the docudrama Young Wrestlers, which premiered at the Berlinale in 2016.

Unaldi’s first feature documentary Overdrive: Istanbul in the New Millennium premiered at the Istanbul International Film Festival in April 2011, and screened at festivals in New York, Mexico City, Sao Paolo, Brussels, Sophia, Vienna and others. Currently she is in post-production on her documentary Inbetween Nowhere.

Unaldi received her BA in International Relations and Photography from Yale University. She received her MFA in film from New York University’s Tisch School of Arts, where she was the recipient of multiple scholarships and grants. In 2013 she was selected as a “Young Society Leader’ by the American Turkish Society.
