Bio

A Sundance Alumni, Kirill Mikhanovsky’s first feature, Sonhos De Peixe, was shot in a small Brazilian fishing village with local non-actors and premiered at the International Critic’s Week in Cannes (Prix Regard Jeunes). Mikhanovsky co-wrote and co-directed Dubrovsky a four-part dramatic Russian TV series, that was also released as a feature-length film theatrically (900 screens) and became one of the domestic hits of 2014. Mikhanovsky’s first short “Terra, Terra” earned him a spot at NYU’s Graduate Film Program, where he wrote and directed “Auditions” and “Inhale, Exhale” (Amsterdam Documentary IFF, Clairmont-Ferrand, and Khanty-Manjinsk, Russia – Special Jury Prize), co-wrote the Colombian short “Martillo” (by Salazar, Grand Prix at the Kiev IFF) and shot the Georgian short “The Debt” (by Koguashvili, Tribeca, Sundance, Cinema Jove festivals, among others). Current projects also include writing Gabriel And The Mountain, a feature-length script with Brazilian writer/director Fellipe Barbosa and co-writing Mullah, a true Afghan war story of a Soviet spy that Mikhanovsky will also direct.

Logline

A naive immigrant teams up with a Russian thug, breaks the law to save his Alzheimer's stricken Grandpa, forms deep bonds with a diverse group of iconic under-class characters, and finds love in the unlikeliest of places. Raw dark comedy set in Milwaukee.
