Bio
Reigning from Nicaragua and growing up in Miami, Florida, Fernando Viquez is an award-winning producer/editor experienced in various capacities in film, television, advertising and new media. Viquez has produced and edited hundreds of projects ranging from commercials, trailers, music videos, behind-the-scenes featurettes and concert specials and now narrative films.
Early in his career, Viquez developed his craft in production. After a brief stint in the advertising agency world, Viquez moved into behind-the-scenes indulging in all levels – climbing the ladder from assistant, coordinator, supervisor and eventually producer. During that time, Viquez thrived in the edit room, learning all aspects of post-production, including editorial and graphics.
As a dedicated picture editor, Viquez has been able to blend creativity and emotion. His editing forte showcases storytelling, complimented with vitality. Viquez has received countless accolades with several industry awards, including Gold and Silver Addys, Tellys and a Grammy nomination for Gloria Estefan’s Don’t Stop worldwide DVD release.
Currently, Viquez continues to be driven as he seeks to work in feature films. He recently edited two epic short films that received high praise and recognition in the festival circuit. Falling Snow is a dramatic coming of age story about an adopted foreign girl and her relationship with her new American family in the shadows of a disturbing childhood. In the award-winning short Letter from Lorca, Spain’s greatest poet and dramatist Federico Garcia Lorca’s final voice is heard through a letter as Civil War breaks out in Spain 1936.
