Julien Favre and his two partners, Luca Matrundola and Pascal Vaguelsy, are running DViant Films, an independent production company with offices in Los Angeles and Toronto.

The company’s latest production, Night Train (Ye Che), by Chinese filmmaker Diao Yinan, took part in the official competition at the Cannes International Film Festival, in the Un Certain Regard category. The film premiered in the US in November 2007 at the prestigious AFI Fest. Last year, DViant Films also completed its first documentary feature, a biopic on the King of Thailand entitled Kingship.

DViant Films’ eclectic slate of current projects also includes The Vessel, a documentary on faith healer Bryan Farnum; Being Manrico, a feature film set in the world of opera; and Halfs, a horror film to be directed by Hong Kong cult filmmaker Fruit Chan.

Prior to his involvement in DViant Films, Favre worked as a TV development executive in France for ten years. He holds a BA in Political Sciences from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris, an MBA from Ecole Superieure des Sciences Economiques et Commerciales, a Masters in Film & Television from Sorbonne University, and an MFA from the UCLA Film School.
