Bio

Jeff Taupier wrote and directed the short, Big Wheel, winner of the Special Jury Award for Live-Action Short Film at the Florida Film Festival and Best Experimental Short at the USA Film Festival. The film screened at numerous other festivals, including the Los Angeles Film Festival, the AFI Festival, and the Chicago International Film Festival, among others. Big Wheel was also screened at the American Cinematheque, in the program “The Pleasures of the Gifted Short.” His first feature screenplay, Third Degree, was a finalist in the Los Angeles Outfest’s first screenwriting competition.

Taupier has also worked as an art director, production designer, segment producer, story editor, supervising story producer and supervising producer on various unscripted and reality television programs for networks such as Fox, Bravo, VH1, Discovery, History and the Sundance Channel.

Taupier holds a BFA from Tisch School of the Arts, Institute of Film and Television at New York University. At NYU, he wrote and directed the award winning short The Drowning; wrote and produced the award winning short, Staring at the Dark (Excellence in Screenwriting); and co-wrote the award winning short, the Midnight Garden, (Excellence in Screenwriting).

Currently he is also developing a romantic thriller set Buenos Aires, Argentina called El Amor es un Extraño (Love is a Stranger).

Logline

In the isolation of the California high desert, the lives of several strangers collide in a ranch house used to make crystal meth; at the exact moment they all witness a mysterious, seemingly other-worldly event, a baby and a bag of drug money vanish.
