Fiscal sponsorship is a legal agreement in which a non-profit with 501 (c)(3) status sponsors a project with no exempt status; this allows individuals (and business entities) to solicit grants and tax-deductible donations for their projects.

Recently, Film Independent launched a new Fiscal Sponsorship initiative. As part of this exciting announcement, we’re offering a primer on the program with Lisa Hasko, Film Independent’s Manager of Documentary Programs and Fiscal Sponsorship. Lisa will explain how fiscal sponsorship works, what types of funding can be accessed through fiscal sponsorship, and the advantages of becoming a fiscally sponsored project. She’ll also address what types of projects Film Independent is interested in supporting and how the application process works.
