See a Film, Hit the Town
Whether you’re a visitor to Los Angeles or a local cinephile, you may want to turn your LA Film Fest experience into a night on the town. Here’s the scoop on five great downtown hot spots within walking distance of the Festival’s hub, L.A. Live.
Take a date to dinner and a movie
Hotel Figueroa, 939 S. Figueroa St.
The vibe and décor of this iconic LA landmark will make you feel like a classic Hollywood star. The perfect spot to make for a romantic “dinner and a movie” film Festival date.
Go dancing with friends
Honeycut, 819 S. Flower
If you’re hitting the Festival with a group of friends and are looking for a fun dance party afterwards, this is your spot. While it’s an elegant cocktail bar, this hip venue promises a night of debauchery and a lively crowd. Suggested cocktail: the “Windsor Knot.”
Impress a mogul
Seven Grand, 515 W. 7th Street
A must-visit for whiskey lovers, this is the perfect spot for execs to “seal the deal.” This place has it all: Seasonal cocktails, a delicious food menu, an international wall of whiskeys spanning the globe, cigars and pool tables. Try the “Zapotec Cocktail.”
Take your bros for a brew
Library Bar, 630 W. 6th Street
If you’re seeing a movie with a bunch of fellow film geeks, this is a great spot to grab a beer afterwards. It’s got an awesome selection of crafts.
Be in-the-know
The Varnish, 118 E. 6th St.
If you’re a fan of the speakeasy, this is one of DTLA’s most darling hidden gems. Enjoy a craft cocktail, and perhaps pitch that screenplay of yours to an exec, or impress your date by bringing him or her somewhere secretive and eclectic. It’s located in the back of Cole’s and features live jazz on Sundays through Tuesdays after 9:00 pm.
