Going to the Forum? Here's important information you need to know:

In preparation for the 2007 Filmmaker Forum, we'd like you to know the following information covering the schedule and logistics for the event so that we can better serve you.  Please help us by reading this and arriving on time.

The 2007 Filmmaker Forum takes place at the Directors Guild of America

West Hollywood, CA  90046

Friday, October 19: Screening of The Kite Runner

7:00 pm:  Screening followed by a Q&A with the producers.
No recording devices, including camera phones, will be permitted in the theater.  Please leave these in your car.
All Forum attendees are guaranteed one space for the screening, provided they arrive no later than 6:45 pm. If you arrive after 6:45 pm, a seat cannot be guaranteed. Guest reservations for this screening are now closed. If you have not RSVP’d for a guest, you will not be able to bring one. However, a wait-list line will be available to allow us to accommodate as many people as possible in the screening.

9:30 pm (approximately): Filmmaker Forum opening reception in the DGA Atrium. Open to Forum attendees only. You will receive a wristband at the screening for access to the reception.

 

Check-in for the Forum conference will be open following the screening. We strongly recommend you collect your Forum badge and materials following the screening to save time on Saturday.

Saturday, October 20: Making Your Film

8:00 am: Check-in; coffee and pastries will be served in the DGA lobby. Food and drink are not allowed in DGA theater. Please arrive early to allow time to park, and check-in, and collect your badge and Forum packet. Check-in is also available on Friday following The Kite Runner screening—see above.

9:00 am: Introduction to the Forum by Film Independent Executive Director Dawn Hudson

9:15 am: Forum starts with Keynote by Producer Stephanie Allain (Hustle & Flow)

1:30–3:00 pm: Hosted Networking Lunch hour in the DGA Lobby. Hosted tables and Joan’s on Third Picnic lunches. Table hosts will be listed in the Forum handout.

3:00–5:00 pm: Meet & Greet in the DGA Lobby. Industry professionals will make themselves available for informal conversations with forum attendees. (Runs concurrently with Demystifying Contracts panel.) On Saturday, the Meet and Greet will focus on film commission and guilds and the following organizations will have representatives to meet with filmmakers:

  • California Film Commission
  • New Mexico Film Commission
  • DGA
  • SAG Indie
  • Axium (U.S. tax incentives)
  • Kodak

If you are interested in meeting and talking to any of the above companies, please contact Todd Flinchum at Film Independent (TFlinchum[at]ilmIndependent.org) by end of day Friday, October 19, and let him know whom you are interested in meeting.

Sunday October 21: Selling Your Film

8:30 am: Check-in; coffee and pastries will be served in the DGA lobby. Food and drink are not allowed in DGA theater. Please arrive early to allow time to park, and check-in, and collect your badge and Forum packet. Check-in is also available on Friday following The Kite Runner screening—see above.

9:00 am: Forum starts with Keynote by Bob Berney of President of Picturehouse.

1:00–2:30 pm: Hosted Networking Lunch hour in the DGA Lobby. Hosted tables and Joan’s on Third Picnic lunches. Table hosts will be listed in the Forum handout.

2:30–4:30 pm: Meet & Greet in the DGA Lobby. Industry professionals will make themselves available for informal conversations with forum attendees. (Runs concurrently with Deconstructing a Contract panel.) On Sunday, the Meet and Greet will focus on film commission and guilds and the following organizations will have representatives to meet with filmmakers:

  • Los Angeles Film Festival
  • Slamdance Film Festival
  • Visual Communications Film Festival
  • Seventh Art Releasing
  • Chris Libby, BWR Publicity
  • Annalee Paulo, 42 West Publicity

6:00 pm: Forum Closing reception and Sloan Producers Grant Award Announcement in the DGA Atrium.
